The Northern California Family Registry for Breast Cancer at the Cancer Prevention Institute of California in Fremont, CA is one of six international registries collaborating in the Breast Cancer Family Registry established in 1995 with funding from the National Cancer Institute.

To date, the six family registries have enrolled over 13,000 families and 4,000 participating breast cancer families are from the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Breast Cancer Family Registry was established to provide a research resource to scientists world-wide that will facilitate research on the causes of breast cancer that can be translated into the development of better ways to prevent and treat the disease, particularly in women at increased risk of breast cancer.  We are thankful to our participants without whom this crucial work would not be possible.
